Nearly a month of summer holiday, two weeks of interviews and some days of decision deadlines, here am I just jump-started real work.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am finally employed.

The progress was effervescently tedious — one moment I was convinced to chase this post, next was considering another, and the most random thought was to wait for more doors to open. Of course the month plus weeks stated above were summarized. I was nearly weary. Quite fainted. There’s overspending and mis-investing which could have been avoided if I only knew these would not be acknowledged.

In the end, I drew it out. After weighing and weighing of cost-opportunity-benefit factors with the help of my family, friends, and colleagues, I preferred one over the others. One of the toughest decision making moments in my life, I guess.

Almost done with all the requirement processing and document preparations. Just living up to this blog’s purpose to inform such that I am on the verge of my transition.

Directed towards something new. My choice. No turning back.

Yes. I had my hair digipermed last night. I got out of the salon at around 1 A.M. No kidding. It looks funny. My hair smells funny. I feel bad. I think my hair feels bad for me also. I crey. Only had the color seemed less obnoxious, I’d feel better. Probably.

After weeks of waiting, I finally claimed my parcel from Oasap! This is going to be my first sponsored outfit from an international shop, and I couldn’t get any enthusiastic. :)

Here’s what I picked out of thousands of Oasap’s gorgeous items: Elegant Lace-up Sloping Shoulder Dress! I had a hard time choosing from their item list because everything’s adorable! But lately I’ve been crushing on dresses so I chose a blue-colored one which is actually out of my comfort zone.

Not really wearing much blue, eh. But this is too elegant not to notice!

I paired the dress with a leopard print blazer from Tomato, leopard pumps from SuperSale bazaar and an elegant white and gold watch from the same bazaar.

Sadly, last Thursday (05/17/12), my maternal grandfather passed away. He was 72 years old. Affected by diabetes these past several years, he fell ill few months ago from a heart attack and his body gradually deteriorated.

Now, I vividly remember the times when he boasts how proud he was about his apos’ accomplishments, and shares life lessons and how we need to put them into practice. He never missed a single recognition of mine in school — except during my College Graduation day, which he wasn’t able to attend because he’s already bedridden.

So when we visited him, this conversation was painfully remarkable:

Mom: Sayang, Daddy. Hindi ka naka-attend ng Graduation ni Zel. Last na ‘yun.

Grand Dad: Oo nga, e.

…

Mom: May masakit ba sa’yo, Dad?

Grand Dad: Meron.

Mom: Ano?

Grand Dad: Ang loob ko.

He is very intelligent, smart (because being said intelligent was not enough), jolly, would laugh at the corniest jokes. He was very empathetic and loved not only by immediate family members, but also everyone else that crossed paths with him. And I am so glad I did cross paths with him, so glad that I met him and to be a part of the wonderful and vibrant Baking family.

I would like to believe he is in a better place at the moment, without the pain and suffering. Moreover, he is with Mommy now. I think that his passing away is not a bad thing after all. It reminds me one more time that our life on earth is temporary. Ultimately, this temporary life will come to an end for all of us. I’m having mixed feelings this very instant. But I still feel sad that he’s gone.

Until we meet again. Adios (To God), Daddy!

Mother's Day Weekend 05/13/12

For Mother’s Day we took Mom to Makati for a retail therapy. Believe me, it’s been a while. Cautiously, saving every penny is the first thing I ought to do because aside from being a bum, I am a$$ br0ke. (I won’t be in a fortnight, hopefully.)

To celebrate the occasion, we had a dinner buffet at Yakimix.

I went on with sushis and makis and lobsters and salmons and more seafood. The only meat I had was bac0n. Maaan, who doesn’t love eat-all-you-can food?!

Yeah, pretty much my first time at Yakimix but not on cook-it-yourself restos. (I have always loved cook-your-own meals.) Compared to Red Crab, you get to sizzle and grill on your own. Definitely worth it.

Zoning; hip hop night

One thing you should know about me: I’m a person of varied interests. I shift my preferences freely — esp music genres. I could go as mainstream as pop to hipster as indie. Last night was hip hop night, though.

The tangibility of watching rap battles live was way, way different from watching them on YouTube. There isn’t of course a pause button so I had a hard time digesting word plays. Gulp.

What kind of surprised me was to see Saab Magalona watching Kampo Teroritmo vs Schizophrenia literally beside me. Then I realized, why, it could have been the master rapper. :-)

Beatbox battles were dope! Abra/Loonie vs CrazyMix/Bassilyo (main event, actually) didn’t push through but all is well! The night was still great.
